You couldn't upload an EPUB book to Amazon KDP, and you couldn't side-load an EPUB either. Instead, you had to convert the EPUB to MOBI, then use that file to upload to Kindle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But after a series of changes and announcements, the <a href=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/mobi-is-dead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MOBI file is essentially dead<\/a>, and Amazon has embraced the EPUB file like every other ebook retailer out there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that the EPUB is readily available to Kindle readers, how can you add the EPUB to your specific Kindle device? Because this is something you might need to do if you have received a free ebook from an author, or an advanced reader copy (ARC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"offer-box\"><b>BEWARE: <\/b>In order for your ePub to be accepted and work on a Kindle, you need to ensure your <a href=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/how-to-format-a-book\/\">ebook was properly formatted<\/a> with the correct front loading capability and new Amazon specifications. Using a book formatting tool like <a href=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/click\/Atticus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Atticus.io<\/a> your book should be fine. So before you can send an EPUB to that email address, you need to find it and authorize your main email address (the one you use for day-to-day interactions) to send it books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log into your Amazon account, go under <strong>Account & Lists<\/strong> and select <strong>Content & Devices<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Devices<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image shadow\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/content-devices.png\" alt=\"content and devices on amazon\" class=\"wp-image-28163\" width=\"770\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/content-devices.png 813w, https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/content-devices-300x62.png 300w, https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/content-devices-768x158.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 813px) 100vw, 813px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Find your device in the list of devices and click on it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you have found your device, it should have the Kindle email listed (one that ends in &#8220;@kindle.com&#8221;). You can now copy that email and save it for later.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, we need to make sure your main email, the one you normally use, is authorized to send emails to this @kindle.com address. Simply follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Create a new email in whatever email service you use (gmail, hotmail, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attached your EPUB file to the email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send it to your @kindle.com email that you collected earlier<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you send the email, you will get a verification email from Amazon. No need for a subject line or content in the body of your email. All you need is the EPUB file, and the @kindle.com address to send it to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-additional-notes-on-sending-ebooks-to-kindle-via-email\">Additional Notes on Sending Ebooks to Kindle Via Email<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You can send up to 25 attachments in one email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can have up to 15 email addresses approved to send emails to your Kindle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The total email size must be 50 MB or less<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To save space you can compress your EPUBs into a ZIP file.
