And it's one of the keys to <a href=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/book-marketing\/\">marketing a book on Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In this article, you\u2019ll learn:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>What an Amazon Super URL is<\/li><li>How to find out if you are using them \u2013 even if you don\u2019t know it<\/li><li>Why you SHOULD NOT use them<\/li><li>One special tactic you SHOULD use<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-an-amazon-super-url\">What Is An Amazon Super URL?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/what-is-Amazon-Super-URL.png\" alt=\"what-is-Amazon-Super-URL\" class=\"wp-image-2997\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/what-is-Amazon-Super-URL.png 900w, https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/what-is-Amazon-Super-URL-300x56.png 300w, https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/what-is-Amazon-Super-URL-768x144.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>An Amazon Super URL is a link that was created by going to Amazon, searching for your book <a href=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/how-to-choose-kindle-keywords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">using a keyword<\/a>, clicking on your book, and then copying the link at the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-okay-but-what-s-so-super-about-that-link\">Okay\u2026But What\u2019s So Super About That Link?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>That may sound innocent and probably something you already do when you are quickly looking for a link to send someone when they ask, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here is where it gets bad and spammy, and why Amazon probably dislikes these links:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many authors use them to cheat the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You see, the Amazon A9 search engine wants to list the products that bring them the most money for that search query. So, <a href=\"https:\/\/sellercentral.amazon.com\/gp\/help\/help-page.html?ie=UTF8&itemID=10471\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to Amazon<\/a>, if a higher percentage of people type in a specific keyword, and purchase your book over others, then your book will rank at the top since it proves to Amazon that YOUR book makes the most sales for that keyword.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"offer-box\">There are other super awesome factors that help improve your Amazon rankings, and you can get in on those&nbsp;secrets&nbsp;in my <a href=\"https:\/\/app.monstercampaigns.com\/c\/dilmlqwjykpoxsyh1ar7\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">free book here.<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of this ranking factor in Amazon, many authors have started sending Amazon Super URLs to their fans, thinking that these URLs trick Amazon into thinking that the person didn\u2019t click the link&#8230;but instead went to Amazon on their own volition, typed in the keyword, found your book, and bought it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They believe this because, as you can see, the Keyword term is in the link and that was the link that was constructed when THEY did the search:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"169\" bad?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-amazon-super-urls-do-not-work\">Why Amazon Super URLs DO NOT Work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In my post on <a href=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/amazon-search-url-isbn-ref\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amazon Link Anatomy<\/a>, I showed you the <a href=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/amazon-search-url-isbn-ref\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">secrets to the Amazon link<\/a> and what it means. &nbsp;I highly recommend you check that out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, let\u2019s break down that Amazon link above and discuss the parts that are important in debunking the Super URL theory:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">QID<\/span><\/strong>: The QID is the number of seconds since January 1, 1970.&nbsp;Yup\u2026that\u2019s right, there is a time stamp inside of the above link. &nbsp;&nbsp;Each time you create an Amazon link using keyword searches, Amazon marks and tracks it.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Amazon-Super-URL-with-QID.png\" alt=\"Amazon-Super-URL-with-QID\" class=\"wp-image-2995\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Amazon-Super-URL-with-QID.png 900w, 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Book Rankings Number<\/span><\/strong>: This shows where the book ranks for that keyword search at the time of the search. &nbsp;In this case, when I did a <a href=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/how-to-choose-kindle-keywords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">keyword search<\/a> for \u201cMake Extra Money,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Buy-Buttons-Peer-Peer-Marketplaces-ebook\/dp\/B01M0SOSPQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Loper\u2019s excellent book<\/a> showed up as the 22nd book in the results. &nbsp;Because a book\u2019s ranking changes all the time, this set of numbers creates what mathematicians would call a check-sum. &nbsp;It validates whether or not the link is true based on the rank at the particular time it was created and that someone hasn\u2019t manipulated the link.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Super-URL-Book-Ranking-Number.png\" alt=\"Super-URL-Book-Ranking-Number\" class=\"wp-image-2994\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Super-URL-Book-Ranking-Number.png 900w, https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Super-URL-Book-Ranking-Number-768x144.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>So, what does this mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Amazon tracks when searches are made &#8211; so you\u2019re not fooling anyone.<\/li><li>Amazon knows if you messed with the link &#8211; some people actually recommend you remove the QID&nbsp;or book rankings numbers&#8230;haha&#8230;oy.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see, Amazon won\u2019t be fooled, and the rest of the link structure ensures your attempt to manipulate (if that is what you were intentionally doing) your rankings with this trick won\u2019t work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t believe me, then here\u2019s a&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/onpolitics\/2016\/11\/23\/amazon-trump-trolls-megyn-kelly-book\/94324354\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">modern day example<\/a>. &nbsp;In the news story, notice that Amazon tracked the bad reviews from one link that was posted in Reddit&#8230;.and boy did they act!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/3o6ozC2VM9R0XSMNKo\" width=\"384\" height=\"362\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center>\n\n\n\n<p>Time stamp? Yup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>High percentage of certain type of review from a link? Yup<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chance that link is producing biased reviews? Yup<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;I rest my case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">But It Gets Worse&#8230;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/sellercentral.amazon.com\/gp\/help\/help.html?itemID=200386250\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">terms and conditions<\/a> do not state anywhere specifically that creating links like this is prohibited. &nbsp;However, they do state MULTIPLE times that any \u201cintent\u201d on manipulating their metrics will be dealt with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, keep that in mind as you read the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: <em>This is where I start to connect the dots seeing that lots of people have commented losing legit reviews and a high percentage of those reviews being linked to these type of links. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we authors know, Amazon has been on a witch-hunt to remove biased reviews. &nbsp;Currently, they use an automatic system that scrubs their database of books looking for violations \u2013 the rules at this point are convoluted and are difficult to fully understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, what we do know is that Amazon\u2019s criteria for review removal isn\u2019t consistent. &nbsp;I believe this is because their automatic system calculates the potential of biased review based on certain factors \u2013 remember, automatic means automated, which means non-human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, using certain factors, Amazon decides the probability that a review is biased and should be removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep that in mind as we discuss how Amazon Super URL\u2019s play into this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeing that you created a link, used a keyword in order to potentially game their algo system, and a high percentage of those who use that link ultimately leave a review, Amazon\u2019s automated system probably sees the connection and combined with other factors, initiates the auto-removal of the review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, this is just another factor that raises Amazon\u2019s review removal response. That\u2019s why not all reviews are removed, and why there is inconsistency across the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"sw-tweet-clear\"><\/div><a class=\"swp_CTT style1\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share?text=This+Amazon+Marketing+%27Hack%27+Is+Silently+Killing+Your+Books+%23BookMarket&url=https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/amazon-super-url\/\" data-link=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share?text=This+Amazon+Marketing+%27Hack%27+Is+Silently+Killing+Your+Books+%23BookMarket&url=https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/amazon-super-url\/\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"sw-click-to-tweet\"><span class=\"sw-ctt-text\">This Amazon Marketing 'Hack' Is Silently Killing Your Books #BookMarket<\/span><span class=\"sw-ctt-btn\">Click To Tweet<i class=\"sw swp_twitter_icon\"><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/a>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, the above is my belief based on the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Amazon\u2019s review removals are inconsistent<\/li><li>Working with other authors, I've seen a high number of reviews from Super URLs removed<\/li><li>It is against Amazon\u2019s policy of intent<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-link-you-should-use\">What Link You Should Use<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The best and safest link to send to your raving fans is what I call the base URL. &nbsp;This is the Amazon link up to the 10 digit ASIN number. &nbsp;See below:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Amazon-Link-Base-URL.png\" alt=\"Amazon-Link-Base-URL\" class=\"wp-image-2993\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Amazon-Link-Base-URL.png 900w, https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Amazon-Link-Base-URL-300x56.png 300w, https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Amazon-Link-Base-URL-768x144.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Use this or an Amazon Associate link (see below for why this is safe) when sending your fans to buy your book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-amazon-associate-is-safe\">Amazon Associate Is Safe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon associate is a program in Amazon where you can create a link, and if someone clicks on it, you earn a percentage of any sale on Amazon within 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, wouldn\u2019t a link you create through this program also be flagged and marked for the reasons discussed above?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Great point. &nbsp;But there are four parts to Amazon Associate that keep us safe and are therefore okay to use \u2013 and why <a href=\"https:\/\/kindlepreneur.com\/3-mind-blowing-things-amazon-associate-will-teach-you-about-your-readers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">I continue to use them myself<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>There are&nbsp;no Keyword Tagging, time tags, or checksums inside of an Amazon Associate link &#8211;
